Your big day is full of joy, laughter, and hopefully not too much stress. Your skin is one of the largest surfaces that will be showing during your big day, so it's best to make sure its taken care of so you have that glowing, effortless look you always dreamed of as a little girl. I have a few recommendations that I give to all my brides to prepare for their big day! Feel free to note your ideas below!
Taking care of your skin, especially your face, will ensure a smooth and hydrated makeup application that won't budge through tears, sweat, and anything else that comes up during your day! I recommend booking in for a hydrating or detoxifying facial at least 1 month before your big day. Facials are a great way to not only get pampered through massage and to stimulate your blood flow to plump up your skin, but it can create a beautiful canvas for your makeup to stay put.
I highly recommend a dermaplaning session before your big day or photoshoot to remove all the little peach fuzz hairs, and the dead layers of skin that tend to build up on the top of your skin. Removing this layer allows your luxurious skin care products to penetrate even deeper into the skin and increase their effectiveness.
Spray tans are also a popular option for brides to be. I highly suggest doing a test run before your big day to ensure you get the colour you are hoping for, and give it time to set so you don't transfer to your clothing.
Waxing/threading is also an essential beauty ritual to get those brows under control. With so many beautiful photo memories being created, you don't want to look back and see those stray hairs you wish you removed before hand. As a makeup artist, brow shaping is an essential part of the beauty routine and creating that perfect arch can be difficult to do on your own, so leave that up to the professionals. Personally, I prefer threading to waxing as waxing can pull on the skin and after time can create thinner, wrinkled skin, where threading is generally quick, somewhat painless and creates a beautiful line without pulling the skin. I suggest booking about 1 week prior to your big day.
Do you have any rituals you did for your big day that should be included? Leave a comment below or contact me to discuss your go-to's! I would love to hear from you!
